Reinvent the Wheel

©1995 Michael D. Renneker

Can you feel the rhythm of the age

sanity and soul are disengaged

walking on a beam of hope high above the city in darkness

on a ledge chained to your philosophy

shining your light that they may see

but the winds blow strong and it's such an awful long way to fall

Listening to your heart tonight, voices from somewhere

listening to your heart tonight

Deep in the message of intervention is this appeal:

reinvent the wheel, reinvent the wheel

this is what's revealed, reinvent the wheel

there was a day when the earth did not stand still

but it never has and never will

the ground is shifting underneath the streets of yesterday

gather every little bit of evidence

obvious truths need their defense

but it's a long, hard fight when it's you up against the age

Listening to your heart tonight, voices from somewhere

listening to your heart tonight

Deep in the message of intervention is an appeal:

reinvent the wheel, reinvent the wheel

this is what's revealed, reinvent the wheel
