Too Much/Not Enough
©2003 Michael D. Renneker
Gonna write a letter, send it to my mom
And tell her what’s going on
So I sit at my computer to type
But I have to choose a font
Well I find Times Roman too hard to read
Arial a bit cliché
But I can’t decide and it’s messin with my mind
guess I’ll blow it off for some other day
chorus
Too much, not enough, too much, not enough
too much, not enough, too much, not enough
too much, not enough, too much, not enough
too much information, not enough wisdom
Now it’s fall and here I am back at school
At the local university
I hear so many strange and different ideas
Which do not make any sense to me
Every single thing my parents taught me was wrong
All the history I learned was a lie
There is no real truth and the sky isn’t blue
And there’s nothing but dirt and darkness after we die
chorus
Overloaded, overwhelmed, saturated, overstated,
Overburdened, at the breaking point, strained, complain
Stressed out, head spinning, indecision, derision, on a mission, television
At capacity, on the brink, over the edge
gonna kick back and watch me a little TV
got my thumb firmly on the remote
my eyes want to look but my conscience sees the hook
many laughing but few get the joke
I see somebody sell somebody else down the river
Just because they’re on TV
And a parade of talking heads put their collective two cents
In a well of speculation and uncertainty
Chorus
